"Are we turning dumber when devices are turning smarter ?"

Am writing this Blog as part of a competition, but when I started writing it, I understood that am writing a Part of my life since I started using these smart devices. Did I become Smart? Personally, I don't think so,instead much more dumber. This is not just my story, but the majority's! When I had a debate with my friends on this topic, I understood that am just a guy representing a majority!
So, Friends & Followers, I Repeat my Question:
"Are we turning dumber when devices are turning smarter ?"

Those who speak against this topic, i.e."We are turning smarter instead of being dumber" may claim that  " Becoming smarter or dumber, it all depends on the type of person using these devices. The ones who knows to use it in a good way become
smarter, and those who uses it for show off and all becomes Dumber”.Ok!Agreed! Is everyone who knows to use it becoming smarter? I know to use these devices in a good way and as per my experience I am getting relied on these devices day by day. Today if I don’t know to write or talk on something which am not familiar with, its not a big task. Everything will be provided infront of your eyes in just one Click. That's how our world, surroundings and all are changing. 10-15 years before we search it through our books, newspapers and all.Now the children will say " Why to worry? Google will solve it"
The ready availability of search engines is changing the way we use our memories. Its like wasting our Brains, making it inefficient, wasting our Investigatory Powers, and moreover making us Lazy. Now we don't need to go to markets or shops to buy anything and waste our time,we can buy almost everything being in online, except dad & mom or family :D

Why should we say more, just look sites like amazon and all, we would see Smart Watermelon slicer to slice Watermelon faster,Baby Monitor and Sleep Tracker and all. Yes, these devices are all smarter enough , but just look what these devices are doing. If you don't have time to slice a watermelon with a spoon, then you don't eat it too. What you have to do by saving some seconds, buying an expensive Watermelon slicer instead of a spoon. This shows your respect towards money, something that will come and go very fastly. When I searched about this  Baby monitor and Tracker , I came across an advertisement of a company, it states that "revolutionary system consists of a night vision camera as well as a motion sensor that remains above your baby’s crib or bed. To help your baby drift off to sleep, the  Baby Monitor has nature soundtracks and can also produce white noise for a relaxing environment...bla bla bla..."
Now dear friends you ask your mother is it the way to take care of their babies?? The majority mothers will feel pity on such ads. The eyes of the Mother are the monitor and her tune is the soundtrack to guide the baby, not the artificial Sleep tracker and all. If we can't even spend time to look after our kids, why do we produce them ?

What happened to our Relations and our power to keep the relations?See if we,especially the Smart kids of this smart era are traveling in a train. Most of them will be staring at the smartphones or will be busy hearing musing using smart gadgets, sometimes even causing disturbance to the people in the train. They don't even speak a word to the next person sitting. These Smart Kids have to look the ones who crossed 35-40 , and how they are travelling. This is was the scene before 10-15 years before, irrespective of the age the passengers talked each others, became friends, shared their ideas, helped each other. Now its a 'Selfish World'.Now The person sitting next to us,Whether our family member too,we will not be knowing much,But may know more about the person far away. Today People are more comfortable in chatting with each other using the smart apps like Whatsapp and all, as they need not need to face them. They could just express their feelings through smileys. Actually these apps are making man Deaf and Dumb!

Some claims that these devices Helps in making A 'WELL IMPROVED SOCIETY', But dear friends what's the use "If we have devices to detect speed, but we don't have the sense to predict the danger caused by the speed?" or "If we have Motors to carry water, but no responsibility to use the water wisely?" The half of the efforts needed to manufacture a emission less car is require to plant one tree which would absorb pollution. But no one bothers!
When it comes to Child or Student development, the features of smart phones like auto complete and all made the adolescent users fast, but less accurate. See, we need to type only few letters and rest the phone will fill, then how could we become accurate? What's purpose being Faster, but less accurate. As a child, you memorized your friend’s phone numbers; now you just add them to your phone. You used to memorize directions; now you just use your GPS.Now when we see majority of the students writing or chatting, we will definitely come across sentences like "c u l8r","by gd nite" etc... SMS-SPEAK is ruining the language of our kids. Our studies says
"The richness of our thoughts, our memories and even our personalities hinges on our ability to focus the mind and sustain concentration. Only when we pay deep attention to a new piece of information are we able to associate it meaningfully & systematically. When we're constantly distracted and interrupted, as we tend to be online, our brains are unable to forge the strong and expansive neural connections that give depth and distinctiveness to our thinking. We become mere signal-processing units, quickly shepherding disjointed bits of information into and then out of short-term memory"
You may heard about the writer Nicholas Carr, once he wrote  What the Net seems to be doing is chipping away my capacity for concentration and contemplation! "He continues: “My mind now expects to take in information the way the Net distributes it: in a swiftly moving stream of particles. Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski.”
How many of you agree with Nicholas Carr?
YES! As some who claims our knowledge is increasing with the Internet, we could also agree with them, but what's happening is our hardwork or our mentality to search foe something is also decreasing exponentially. Now the acronym "GK" is more suitable to "GOOGLE KNOWLEDGE" rather than General Knowledge!

Anyhow we have to appreciate the inventions like QAMA Calculator and all. We need more inventions like these, where we exploit our knowledge as well the technology. Until we provide accurate estimate of what the answer will be the QAMA calculator will not provide us the answer. If our estimate is not even near to the answer, we would have go back to the question and look where we went wrong. We need more inventions like these, so that we don't create a situation where we will become slaves to the robots or technology as like the dogs are for us.

“I fear the day when technology will surpass our human interaction. We will have a generation of idiots.” Today I Too Fear as the great ALBERT EINSTEIN did. So Please Don't Let it happen!

"Today I Saw the Stars born on Earth........."

Majority of the Blogs have been extracted from my day to day experiences. Actually many of my Blogs are my diary entries. Today is a day, which I won't forget till I leave this holy earth. Today is the day,I saw many "Stars on Earth" :)

An Organisation in our college organized a Program today in a BUDS School in our college's locality. The program was we the students of our college collected money and bought a New School kit for the students studying at that school. But there we didn't saw any students, but some STARS,stars that born on earth.

We have friends who are extremely talented to sing, dance etc.. Majority among them shows big demands or are shy enough to display their talents. Today I saw the Stars who sings, dances as soon they grab the oppurtunity. This is the difference between them and us. Interesting is that, when they sing we may think as a "Normal Human Being"(called by the society). In such a way they sing, dance, taking us out of the world. They are the 'most' Normal Human Being in this earth. Really our Film Industries are losing many great artists,as these 'most' Normal Humans are treated as Abnormal. May be by birth they have some faults, still they live, they communicate without any jealous and all. Then actually who are  "Normal"?? They may not become Einstiens and Edisons, but even with the faults credited by the almighty, the way they are living on this earth is something we can't imagine.

There we saw some Paintings , I was shocked to see the coloured sketches of a girl wearing different type of dresses;- Churidar,Frock, even a a girl wearing bikini ,with volley ball in her hand. The teachers may helped ,but still the thinking power of the few among the Stars is some thing we can't even imagine. You may feel ashamed. Yes, I even can't draw a straight line with the scale, still others see me with their normal eyes, while them with their 'Abnormal' Eyes. Why?
When the majority of the normals roam around for jobs, the Abnormals weave bags, baskets, make chairs and all as time pass.

Now I salute the teachers who take care of these kids. When the majority, our society and all feels tough to handle or mingle with these kids, these teachers spend most of their time in a day with these extremely talented ones. With the limited resources ,the way they are dealing with the kids are something beyond our expectations. Am Sure majority of the parents of such kids can't even take care as those teachers. The teacher gets angry when they do some big mistakes, correct it and make it right. As usual , but one ting you have to note is, in our cases we understand our mistakes faster, here the teacher would have to correct these kids twice ,thrice, sometimes even 100 times. But these teachers do! That's what make them different. BIG RESPECT!

When I talked to the staffs and teachers there, I understood there is no enough space or infrastructure to handle these students. This is not one case. In Many BUDS schools we see , the sitauation is same. Its time up for the government who change after 5-5 years to take care of these kids and the people living with these kids.

WE ARE THE GENERATION,WHO GOES BEHIND CHANGE OR DIFFERENCE! SO WHEN  WE DEAL WITH NORMALS THROUGHOUT A DAY,A YEAR, OR A LIFE, PLEASE FIND SOME TIME TO SPEND WITH THESE 'DIFFERENT TALENTED ABNORMALS' AND THEY TOO MAKE CHANGE IN OUR SOCIETY, LIFE..!!

JUNE 14 2016 WON'T BE VANISHED FROM MY MEMORY TILL MY BODY LEAVES ME AS

"Today I Saw the Stars born on Earth........."

Is India really developing?:A take on Indian mentality

No one can argue about India's developmental status; India is well and truly a developing country well on it's way to becoming a world leader in almost every sector. The world's take and outlook on in India is changing for the better with every passing day. But what of the Indian mentality? How much have we improved from the dark days of sati?
India had almost every single social evil ruining it up until the late 19th and early 20th century. Even the  Father of the nation and the current PM of India were victims of child marriage. The earlier 'untouchables' were given a newfound sense of freedom during India's struggle for Independence. Women too have come a long way, culminating in a Female leader of the Nation. (Prathibha Patil from 2007-12) But we should ask ourselves the question, have we come forward enough? The answer to that would be a profound no, at least in my opinion.

Where is the point in curbing child marriage if one's parent is still going to decide who their child will marry?
What's the point in giving education to girls if her father is to decide what she is going to learn? What is the point in abolishing the caste system if one is not going to be willing to marry outside of his /her caste?
What is the point of electing a Govt. if they are not even having the minimum knowledge to represent the country? What is the point in talking up development if you still are going to cast your vote for the party you support?

It is high time we really rethink what we are actually doing. Before one arranges a groom for his/her daughter, ask yourself the question shouldn't she be the one to decide who she lives with for the rest of her life? For all those who argue that the same was done to them, just recollect how you felt when you were denied a say in what should really have been your choice.
I have had friends who have argued about how they could choose the groom, only if he is to be from her own community. Let me tell you, that is bonkers. Where is your freedom if they are restricting your choices into a limited few? Think of the time you may have to reject a boy whom you really like, just because your parents won't approve. Ask yourself whether your parents really love you if they deny you the chance to be with someone, because of his/her social status. Where is the sense of empowerment that you demand if you can't even stand up against your own parents?

One can definitely question an average Indian boy's mentality as well. We have boys questioning a girl's dressing all the while enjoying watching them. What is the point in acting innocent? Be honest, not just with others but yourself as well.
There is no point in criticizing a girl when it is your mind that is to be cleansed. I have met people who say they support intercaste and inter-religion marriages but aren't willing to marry an opposing caste member themselves. I can't think of a better term other than hypocrite to describe you all. One is being a hypocrite when he is ashamed of a girl who uses expletives, he's bound to have friends who cuss a million times more.

Every time one visits a temple we find people neglecting the needy who beg outside the temples and depositing tens and thousands for the temple. People spend liters of milk for puja and render them useless, while million die through malnutrition every year. There may be mafias acting behind those beggars but do realize that there are genuinely needy among them too.
What is the point of faith if you are going to forget the humanity in the process? If one is still going to neglect the needy and waste your money on his own faith, I don't think his own god would want to save his soul.

For all those who raise their voice for gender equality and feminism. Let me ask you something are you discriminated by the Constitution in any way? No.
Then why behold? Raise your voice against those who oppress you, against those who deny you your Constitutional rights, shame those who try to harass you. In this age of social media, one can come with a million ways to act against them. If someone teases you, put up his photo on social media as a shameless coward. If you can't consider yourself equal to any male and act accordingly, no amount of empowerment programs are going to help you. There is no point in shouting about feminism on facebook if you are going to cry when you face an angry teacher. The sense of empowerment should arise from within. If one is denied her chance, she should create their own. Do remember that there wasn't any program to support Amelia Earhart or Helen Keller when they grew up.

Indian's action on social media too should be questioned as well. Everyone was ready to tear into Maria Sharapova when she remarked, "who is Sachin?".Perhaps one could ask Kohli or Dhoni who 'Andre Arshavin' is and then react.
Had Keralite's taken up the recent rape case of Jisha in the same vein as #pomonemodi , she would probably have had justice by now. One should ask himself how educated they really are when they share pictures of humanity and environmentalism but refuse to act upon it. One could question their own morality when they refuse to take part in a beneficial program just because it was proposed by an opposing faction.

Finally, If you don't agree with what I am pointing out here, let me tell you this, I don't give a damn, this is just a young Indian exercising his right of freedom of thought and expression.

COPA AMERICA:A look back at the oldest intercontinental football tournament.

Time for little bit sports and now its the time for Football as 100th  Anniversary of Copa America is taking place in the USA.

As the Copa America Centenario comes about on 100 anniversary of the oldest intercontinental football tournament(older than the world cup itself ), let us take a look back at the tournament's glorious past.

The Copa América, formerly known as the South American Football Championship, is a men's international football tournament contested between the
national teams of CONMEBOL, determining the continental champion of South America. It is the oldest international continental football competition. The first Copa America was contested in Argentina in 1916 among the four major footballing teams in South America, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile, as the 'Campeonato Sudamericano de Football'.Uruguay would emerge triumphant in the very first edition and would go on to retain their title in the 2nd edition held in their own home soil. The Copa would subsequently be conducted every year till the inaugural world cup in 1930(except 1919) adding Paraguay, Bolivia, and Peru along the way. It is also worth noting that the governing body of football in South America, the CONMEBOL, was established only after the success of the first tournament in 1916.
After the first world cup was conducted in Uruguay in 1930, a subsequent altercation between Argentine and Uruguayan FAs saw the Copa being suspended till 1935 when it was held in Peru. Since then the tournament has been conducted in a more or less irregular manner until now. After eight years of absence from 19677-75, the event resumed in 1975 and officially acquired the name Copa América. The tournament then had no fixed venue, and all matches were played throughout the year in each country.

The competition reverted back to its old format, involving a host in 1987 and subsequently started the current format involving 12 teams in 1993. Since then 2 teams from around the world have been invited ever since in order to fill in for the 2 remaining slots after the 10 members of CONMEBOL were granted automatic qualification.
Till date, 44 such editions of the Copa have been held in which Uruguay and Argentina remain the most successful with 15 and 14 titles respectively. But most of the success of these two teams have come in the yesteryears, with Argentina failing to win since 1993 and Uruguay facing a 16-year trophy drought between 1995 and 2011. Chile one of the participants in the inaugural tournament managed their first Copa in the last concluded tournament which they hosted last year.

This year a special Centenario edition of the tournament is being held in the USA involving all the teams from the North and South America(ie the CONMEBOL & CONCACAF members.)
Over the years, the Copa has produced some memorable moments be it the initial power struggle between Uruguay and Argentina or the most followed present-day rivalry between Argentina and Brazil. The Copa also has produced surprise winners including the recent triumphs of Chile and Uruguay as well as the 2001 victory that Columbia managed in the tournament they hosted. The tournament has also thrown up surprising results such as the Honduras win over Brazil in the 2001 tournament and both Brazil and Argentina failing to make the semis in 2011, despite entering the tournaments as the favorites.

It is also worth noting that two of footballs greatest names, Pele and Diego Maradona, neither managed to win the Copa America during their careers. Argentina dominated the copas in the 50s and early 60s when Pele managed to inspire Brazil to its first three world cup triumphs and during Maradona golden period, Argentina was initially overpowered by Uruguay and Brazil and then the legend failed to take part in the Argentine teams that triumphed in '93 and '91.
Both don't have a Copa :)
It is also worth noting that Argentina made the finals in 27 of the 44 tournaments so far while Uruguay has appeared in the semis on 34 occasions. In recent years Brazil too has emerged successful with triumphs in both 2005 and 2007 bringing their tally to 8 titles.
Among individual honors yesteryear stars, Ziziinho of Brazil and Norberto Mendez of Argentina holds the record for maximum goals scored with 17 each, whereas among relatively recent players Gabriel Batistuta of Argentina has 13 keeping him tied in the 4th spot.

The present-day favorite Lionel Messi holds the record for most assists with 9. He also has the most man of the match awards with 6, but yet hasn't managed to win the famous trophy in the blue and white stripes of Argentina.

Going into the 2016 tournament, Argentina enter as favourites this June following the Brazilian decision to rest their top star Neymar in favour  of the Olympics that is to be held in Rio in August but still are expected to mount a firm challenge with the team including numerous stars such as Willian and also a rising gem in the youngster Gabriel dubbed 'Gabigol' by the Brazilian media. Holders Chile would also fancy their chances, led in attack by Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez and boasting Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to lead the side.2011 victors Uruguay would also be in with a shout following the return of Luis Suarez, who missed the last edition through a FIFA ban and also boast the likes of Edinson Cavani and Diego Godin in their ranks.Peru, Paraguay, and Equador led by Manchester United's Antonio Valencia too are capable of springing a surprise , while the USA managed by the tactically astute Jurgen Klinsmann is bound to be a challenge for any side and despite missing their star striker Radamel Falcao, Columbia involving the 2014 world cup top scorer James Rodriguez is bound to be in with a shout.

2016 Copa America Centenario edition would be the largest till date and is bound to be an interesting watch for all football fans around the globe.

TOWARDS A GREENER ,CLEANER PLANET

As yet another Environment day is done by , one could ask the question what is different now than in the years past? The answer would be actually a number of steps on paper but so little which has happened in reality.Every year we see a number of environment friendly reforms and programs launched, but only a very few of them succeed. We end up facing Environment days every year with probably an unhealthier environment from the year before.Let us see what we as well as the Governing authorities can do to move towards a greener and cleaner environment.

1.Planted trees,but what next?

Every single year we find trees being gifted and planted by celebrities and children alike on the environment day but what happens next? This is where the problem lies, the trees do not get cared for end up dieing the very next summer. There is going to be no benefit in planting trees if one is not going to take care of it.(Think of buying a car and not driving it,thats what is being done here.) How can we solve it?It is not  possible to ensure care of the care of the trees being planted. But it can be encouraged, may be through social media challenges,(the ice bucket initiative went viral among celebs) or it can be done by incorporating a project on your tree into school curriculum, were in the students could be made to report on a tree that they planted at the age of 10 and report its growth at the end of his schooling with provision of grace marks as an added bonus. On a larger scale, it may not be possible to convert the occupied land back to forests, so the best we can do is to preserve the diminishing forest cover as it stands. The forest that is required to be cut down(for laying rail and so on) should and must be compensated for by the Government itself.(The land that is taken up from people is compensated but what off the acres we occupy from nature?) The Government must ensure that every tree that is being cut is accounted for and replinished.

2.Cleanliness

There is no point in complaining about of how bad your city smells if you are not going help clean it . Every one of us is reluctant to dispose wastes in a scientific way. Most people fail to see the importance of sorting out ones  waste into biodegradable and others. One must realise that if one sorts out the waste in such a way it results in much easier disposal . If the waste from different households can be organised, the recyclable ones can be recycled , biodegradable ones can be disposed(the Govt can set up large scale vermi compost or bio gas plant in each locality to help in waste management.) and non biodegradable waste can be managed much more conviniently . From an individuals point of view, one can ensure no littering occurs under any circumstances(schools can introduce small fines to instill such habbits into kids),avoid plastic and replace them using paper or cloth bags(after all plastics are non biodegradable) and organise cleaning drives in one's neighborhood.(again social media contest can be organisedfor bragging rights;a clean neighborhood is something we all can be proud of) The government to can come up with schemes like 'The swachh bharat' initiative. The government can try and incorporate beggars in cleaning initiatives.(ie. rather than having a designated cleaner who do nothing in railways the government can make use of the needy beggars to clean them up.It would also give an added bonus since they will also be given a sense of entitlement by such a recognition and be compelled to clean and in return they can be entitled  a small tip from every passenger or so.)

3.Minimize carbondioxide emission.

CO2 has been a major part of any environment discussion in the past and its emission needs to controlled on a much larger scale on the wake of the dwindling forest cover. A large portion of it is from vehicles. Vehicles are definitely an essential part of life nowadays. But then no one can argue about how utilization of public transport can not only be beneficial to the environment but also the people itself since it would help reduce the traffic conjestion. One's reluctancy to use public transport can be understood be due to the lack of cleanliness ,safety etc. This is were the govenment comes in.The govt can take initiative to improve the quality of public transport (who wouldn't want to travel in public transport facilities if they were to be like 'the london underground' or 'metro rail system'.) What of emissions for such vehicles this is were all the advancements like hybrid and electrical engines come in. The government can and should subsidise vehicles like the 'Renault Reva' and the 'Mahindra e2o' to rikshawalas to replace their existing polluting rikshas with eco friendly options.

4.Minimize E waste

E waste is arguably the largest growing part among the waste from industries and households alike. The e ffect of e waste may be minimal at present but in a world were every one is replacing their gadgets every single year, it is bound to create problems.

How can we minimize e waste when it becomes necessary to upgrade our gadget every year or two ? This is were the innovation of modular gadget including smartphones come in handy. It would help if one can have the best hardware without replacing the whole device . One would be able to replace his smartphone camera or processor without replacing the whole device. Google's project ara is one such idea for modular devices(smart phone to be precise) but ironically they are also behind one of the least flexible devices in the chromebook which despite essentially being a laptop has little to no modular components, so effectively the user will have to replace the entire device to upgrade. The existing companies should also try to come up with ideas to either to recycle the existing devices or to may be enable people to upgrade parts in their existing gadget.(This would also have an added economical appeal.)
All theese ideas would remain stuck on paper if we aren't to implement any such reforms. We all need to understand the importance of taking care of our environment. There is no point in recycling if one is going neglect them over as being recycled products(Most don't prefer recycled notebooks.Next time ask yourself wether you need such good quality for making rough notes and practicing),there is no point in arguing about how others are not doing it,(we need to realise that we are doing something for our own good as well) and most importantly we should realise it all starts with small steps like cleaning up your household, planting as well as taking care of trees in your own plot and the neighborhood.
The social media can come in handy in such iniatives as well. One could use it to publicaly shame someone who is dirtying the environment, it would then compell the person in question to act as well.(something like a 'defame the defacer' initiative) This would create vigilantes for the Environment without any actual employed ones.
Most importantly all should realise the importance of a greener, cleaner environment and act accordingly.

Let us think each & every day as "WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY" and try to bring the Beauty of the Nature Back!

The True Face of Reservation- My words on Reservation Policy in India!

First of all, Am not belonging to any reserved Caste or religion(you could check my Identity),Am just Expressing my views. I know its difficult to accept for many, but please excuse me. Its Just My opinion, lol :)

In India there was a time, the time dominated By Pure Brahmins and some big castes. In A country, particulary in a Democratic country, each and every citizen should have equal rights to everything in the country, wheather the right to study, work or express their views. That is why Independent India's first PM Showed his class, asking a Dalit-Legend Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar to write the Constitution of India. First of all Saluting the greatness of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Before Speaking completely against this policy try to Understand some facts:

First let us Understand what is this reseravtion policy:
Wikipedia says "Reservation in India is the process of facilitating a person in education, scholarship, jobs, and in promotion who has category certificates. Reservation is a form of quota-based affirmative action. Reservation is governed by constitutional laws, statutory laws, and local rules and regulations. Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), and in some states Backward Classes among Muslims under a category called BC(M), are the primary beneficiaries of the reservation policies under the Constitution – with the object of ensuring a level playing field." Simply we can say "A Constitutional agreement to meet almost every basic need of the minor group in India".

A common form of caste discrimination in India was the practice of untouchability. Scheduled Castes (SCs) were the primary targets of the practice, which is outlawed by the Constitution of India. The primary stated objective of the Indian reservation system is to increase the opportunities for enhanced social and educational status of the underprivileged communities and thus uplift their lifestyle to have their place in the mainstream of Indian society. The reservation system exists to provide opportunities for the members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribess to increase their political representation in theState Legislatures, the Executive Organ of the Union (Centre) and States, the labour force, schools, colleges, and other public institutions.
The Constitution of India states in article 16(4): "Nothing in [article 16] or in clause (2) of article 29 shall prevent the State from making any special provision for the advancement of any socially and educationally backward classes of citizens or for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes." Article 46 of the Constitution states that "The State shall promote with special care the educational and economic interests of the weaker sections of the people, and, in particular, of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, and shall protect them from social injustice and all forms of exploitation."
Ministry of Education (now Ministry of Human Resource Development) for the first time addressed letter on 23-11-1954 to the Chief Secretaries of all the State Governments suggesting that 20% seats should be reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in educational institutions with a provision of 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks for admission wherever required. In 1982, it was specified 15% and 7.5% of vacancies in public sector and government-aided educational institutes as a quota reserved for the SC and ST candidates respectively .[12] The Supreme Court of India ruled that reservations could not exceed 50% (which it judged would violate equal access guaranteed by the Constitution) and put a cap on reservations.[13]

To know more about the origin and all, you could refer Mandal Commission or any reports regarding reservation, am not here to expalin " WHAT IT IS?", but "WHY IT IS?"

Now Coming to the point:

Category as per Government of IndiaReservation Percentage as per Government of India
Scheduled Tribes (ST)7.5%
Scheduled Castes (SC)15%
Other Backward Classes (OBC)27%
Total constitutional reservation percentage49.5%

This how India's Reservation Structure Looklike. You have to agree to a fact that still "Only few among the reserved is going to work in Govt.Sectors or anyother sectors". Just try to find the answer for it. Here by the term Reserved I mean mainly the SC's & ST's. We would have a big debate later on the other Categories. Let us consider SC's & ST's.

To all Who bark against this system I have a lot of questions to ask :

You all claim they are develope like you and have to stop this policy,ok,agreed!
Being a Malayalee, for joke am asking you all, "Eventhough they are developed still why we call  words like "POLAYA","POLAYADI" and all ABUSING! It's a caste name like yours, and you are not using your caste name as ABUSING WORDS. Don't take it serious, its just a FUN-FACT!

First of all, please don't group all SC's and ST's developed, refering to one or 2  individual. If we take
cases In states like Bihar, the condition of those 'Reserved' people is worser than what we imagine. What happens is "There would be a neighbour or a classmate,he may be rich by exploiting this Reservation policy, and what we people do is we will group the entire community to be rich. If we go deeper to place like Wayanad in Kerala and all, still we will find people searching for food and all.If they are Developed Why they still stands high in the poverty percentage of India?One/ two doesn't mean Majority. Still Major communities and other backward communites are  far developed than these men, eventhough there is no discrimination.

Next,'' get low marks but still get a chance'' , this is a common phrase used against SC-ST Students. Reservation should be given to talent regardless of who the student is, Agreed!  But just think one thing An Achievement is achieved when our Talent comes
along with certain other factors like the way we live, way we survive. Therefore for example the SC/ST who got 40 in an entrance would have the same talent as the general one who got 75. The Living structure of Most SC/ST Students in our country is far behind the general(I Mean majority) So the difference of 35 marks is due to reflection of the way the SC/ST lives.Education is the right which they have been denied for many generations. An educated person is valued more for his skill-sets and is supposed to to contribute to the social and economic progress of the country. Giving them education , forcing the privileged upper-castes to study with them , gives the the platform where their community is represented in the circle originally dominated by upper-castes.

Main problem is that the benefits are confined to only roughly(30%) of a sample pool of 2 lakh people. If that figure must rise up to 70%( which is proportional to representation of backward castes) then the remaining larger population( especially in the poorer parts of the country) must be aware of such schemes. Education about the evils of caste-ism will help school-kids understand the unfair practices which continue even today.

Since reservations are about uplifting the socio-economic status of the backward classes by providing them education,we can examine certain parameters and the penetration of backward classes into those parameters to tell how effective this system is in today's world. Some of them as outlined below:

Case study:
Enrollment rates of SC/STs: Just 6% in past 7 years

Lack of learning abilities- Roughly 80% students in our village cannot learn basic math
How can one expect them to cope up with the demanding JEE syllabus and even more challenging IIT syllabus?.
Penetration of backward castes into academic professions
This is another way to examine how far the backward castes have penetrated into the field of academic professions( teaching professions in technical institutions), which was originally meant for forward castes.
Occupational profiles:
The occupational profiles are heavily skewed against the lower castes. Nearly 48% Grade D and blue collar jobs are occupied by lower castes..
Lower the socio-economic status, lower is the inclination to learn:
More studies reveal that lower the socio-economic status, lower is the inclination to learn. A child from a higher socio-economic background where he is encouraged by his family members to aspire for greater heights, where the family has got access to enough resources to financially support their child in availing education, that child has got a tendency to learn quickly.
Standard of living of lower caste and villages:
Greater the socio-economic status, greater is the standard of living. Reservation was meant to provide a decent standard of living for the socially-backward communities.
Standard of living is generally measured by access to basic amenities, the presence of the Holy Trinity needed for a man to survive: Food, Shelter, Clothes.
Data shows that more than 70% of villages in TN do not have a proper roof over their houses. More than 73% of village houses do not access to toilets.
Access to sanitation: 9% of Dalit households have it
Dropout rates of SC/ST: 47% of kids drop out from school:

SCs/STs form half of India's poor: Survey

DELHI: Scheduled Castes and Tribes constitute half of the total "poor, deprived households", a pilot survey to identify the Below Poverty Line population has found.

The survey found that SCs/STs were a mere 25% of the "non-poor households" who showed deprivation on some of the parameters -- ranging from housing to illiteracy to homelessness and destitution.

The findings reiterate the long-held hypothesis that dalits are the most-underprivileged sections of population and the easiest marker of poverty.

The pilot survey is significant given that results have come from the representative sample of 166 villages across 22 states. It will form the basis for the full-fledged survey to be conducted soon to identify the poor.

Vivek Kumar, sociologist with Jawaharlal Nehru University, said the findings proved that caste and class identities in the country overlapped and the social identity of dalits led to cumulative deprivation cutting across parameters for identification of poor. "Economic deprivation depends on social identity," he said, summing up the inferences from the pilot survey.
That 22% of the population (SC/ST) forms half of the country's rural poor is in line with known facts about poverty statistics but it is startling that the theory continues to hold good. After the pilot survey, the anticipated household exercise to identify the poor - with methodology refined by Planning Commission member Mihir Shah for the Union rural development ministry - would show where the final figures stand for the country.

While dalits and tribals form the bulk of poor households, their share drops to 25% among the non-poor households with deprivation, a fact which underlines the relationship between SC/STs and economic status. The communities are not just poor but also score high on kuchcha housing, illiteracy among adults, homelessness, destitution, landlessness with agricultural wages as their main source of income.

The BPL survey is crucial because the identified families would form the target group of government's subsidy-based welfare schemes. According to observers, the BPL survey is crucial to the fate of dalits because they form the bulk of beneficiaries of targeted welfare.

Vivek Kumar concurred with the findings of the pilot survey, saying, "YB Damle in 1970s had shown that social identity has an impact on the economic performance of people."

The coming BPL survey would see a change in the methodology from previous years. The analysis of pilot survey by Planning Commission has shown that earlier BPL surveys could have been off the mark by as high as 50%

BY THIS BLOG I HOPE YOU UNDERSTOOD BRIEFLY ABOUT THE ECONOMIC AND EDUCATION STATUS OF SC-ST's. STILL YOU DIDN'T GET THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION "WHY STILL RESERVATION?" YOU MAY HAVE A HARD HEART! LAST BUT LEAST REQUESTING YOU ALL, "PLEASE DON'T ANALYSE ANYTHING WITH JUST ONE OR TWO CASES, ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MAJORITY,THE SUPREME POWER IN DEMOCRACY!!!"
